Aside from your premature "Hunter Yurachek next AD" announcement you are usually very accurate and well informed Mr Stow councilman MR. At this point in season what do you predict for our head coaching position following EMU game? Also- any insight into what happened to Devoe Torrence?

I have to agree with Common sense. No team in MAC ever seems to have a great defense. But the best teams do have great offenses. I say lets go for offensive expertise and production. More excitement, more scoring will lead to more fans. Low scoring rarely wins nor does it entice fans to jump on bandwagon.

Please, UA, hire an offensive-minded football coach. Just look at the mess the Browns have been in by constantly hiring a "defensive" guy (Mangini, Romeo, Belichick). Good defense is needed, sure. But if the Browns and Zips aren't showing you IMPLICITLY that without scoring, they ain't winnin' squat...then what will it take?

Put a few weapons around Nicely and turn him loose. No one is coming to watch their team score 10 points or less (or, in the Browns' case, zero points). Offense attracts fans and wins games.

Dambrot's right. Forget the at-large bid (not that there was every a shred of hope....we're the MAC, not the Horizon League, after all). Winning the actual MAC tourney in March is our only hope of postseason action. Maybe these guys have been reading their press clippings a little too much?

As for the gridders....yeeeesh.

Despite the loss, I thought Nicely took another step forward tonight. Most of his passes looked pretty much on target. I just cringed every time he ran the ball and/or got hit. His future certainly does look bright.

On the hardwood, I guess its safe to say I've now been disappointed twice in two games. I wasn't sure if the Zips would pull of a win tonight or not but I sure didn't see a 21-point loss in the offing either. It is time to get it turned around now. With all these people back this shouldn't be a situation where we need time to gel or gain much cohesiveness. Now, lets just hope the guys come back from Daytona Beach with a .500 record and a two game winning streak.

Any farther word on when Steward will be ready? I don't think many fans realize how good he can be yet.

Lets first separate ourselves from the other site,ZN. Doesn't matter what the name of the coach is. Lets say its Smith. If coach Smith went what 6-5 and 7-6 his first 2 years with many of the players recruited by the previous coach AND then had 4 losing seasons in a row and was at another school would the school retain him? Not likely! Coach Smith will find another job after this one. But, we all know if WE did our jobs at that level, our bosses would be considering someone to replace us.

If you want to empty the stadium completely I would advocate letting JD coach next year. What happened last year and the year before? JD is not a head coach and or hasn't surrounded himself with competent coaches. Special teams?--- enough said. I don't need another year to know he's over his head. Even if he somehow managed to not have a losing season next year I would pass on any contract extension. The UA investment in football and the UA fans deserve a better outcome on a yearly basis. Winning the east on a third, fourth, or fifth tiebreaker once just does't warrant further consideration. I'm glad he's good to the football alumni but that doesn't win games or fill the stands. What a shame.
