Reno Ferri steps down

Assistant coach Reno Ferri resigned amid an investigation into a possible recruiting violation.

Ferri, the running backs coach and recruiting coordinator, was on paid leave while the university investigated whether he broke NCAA rules. The investigation was not complete by the time Ferri resigned.

I have run into Ferri on a few occasions. He is an energetic, humble and helpful person. I don't doubt he will find another position somewhere.

Mark down October 7, 2009 as the official date that the JD BROOKHART AT AKRON clock officially begins. This was nothing more than a secondary violation which is being exploited into something more than what it really is. For an example see Kent State men's basketball assistant coach Rob Senderhoff, who had 577 violations while on the staff at Indiana. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/news/story?id=3086559

Low and behold, he resigns at IU and lands at Kent State.

When good people like this get run under the bus for minor errors and first time offenses the countdown is on for a regime change. Time to call Century 21 coaching staff as your time is nearing an end.

Uhhhhhh OWH, I think if you read the article closely you`ll find that it was SAMPSON who made the calls while at OKLAHOMA. Way to crucify someone without knowing ALL the FACTS.

Glad that I scrolled down this far — Oliver WH, are you telling us that if Reno Ferri had not resigned on October 7th, that JD Brookhart was assured of being Akron's coach in 2010? That's what it looks like to me.
