Sellout appears imminent

Akron has sold out its general admission and student tickets for Saturday's stadium-opening game against Morgan State. Fewer than 1,000 reserved seats remain on sale.

This will be a crazy two weeks for the university's ticket office. The following week might sell out as well, because Indiana is sure to bring a chunk of fans to town.

I will break down the Morgan State game tomorrow and add some thoughts on the opening of InfoCision Stadium.

Do you have your ticket for Saturday?

For those who care, I made it through my primary election on Tuesday for Stow City Council At-Large.

It was a gut-wrenching night, watching the results come in. I needed to be in the top six of eight candidates to pass through to the general election. I took fourth, only 55 votes away from second place. On Nov. 3, Stow will fill three seats, so I'm in pretty good position.

You can follow the campaign here.

You should have had a "Yes, I'm a season ticket holder." I mean there are only 6800+ of them.

Oh, and I would like to point out a quick fact I find interesting.

Infocision Stadium: 1 game 1 sellout (Opening September 12, 2009) This is with tickets ranging from $15 – $500 per seat. People said it was never going to happen, especially with a little known school like Morgan State coming.

Dix Stadium: 200 + games, ZERO sellouts (Opened September 13, 1969) This includes several reductions in capacity and the cheapest tickets in town. (and a few successful seasons in the 70's)

Most of the remaining seats are the club-level seats. They're just a bit too expensive at this point but I think they'll sell out by the Indiana game, especially if they push the seats as being for sale during the home opener.

Congrats on your first step Rasor! I'm thrilled to death about the 'imminent sell out' I hope it happens for the first two games and more. How fantastic is it that the NUMBER 1 soccer team in the land is also selling out their next game?! Sure wish I was 15 years younger so that I could be a student now as opposed to '95. Oh well. Guess I'll have to keep reading this blog and following on GOZIPS.com. Hope you all have fun at the games this week.

I wish I could run for political office but I'm an Ohio Catholic Democrat in South Carolina.

but I could be governor in 2010 if I start quoting Glen Beck
