I ran into coach Keith Dambrot while eating lunch at the Diamond Deli today. He said freshman center Zeke Marshall has looked very good during individual workouts. The players can't score on Marshall, who runs like a gazelle, the coach added.

Can we just skip the football season and get right to Zips basketball?

Is that a good thing or a bad thing? I guess its good that he's already turning into a great defender, but its bad that we cant score against him.

Its great !! When is the last time that Akron( or any other MAC school) had a real shut down center ? CMU's Kaman was tough and parlayed his size and game into a nice NBA career, no doubt, but I think that Zeke will be even a better defensive force. Don't forget that he was a late starter and his offensive game will evolve as well.

I suspect that we will be enjoying some great hoops and even some possible top 25 teams in a year or two. Between Zeke and Humpty we have a nice inside/outside presence to build around and the right coach to do the building.

Fear the Roo

Shhh, MS, don't say 'Fear the Roo.' Hunter might get mad. It's Roo Town. Roooooo Town. That makes sense, right? Bueller? Anyone? (crickets)

Eric September 3, 2009 at 8:28 pm

@ Jace…

I don't get why you guys think Hunter and company stopped the Fear the Roo slogan. They still sell t shirts, hoodies, and posters gallore with it. All that they've done is taken the original slogan and ran with it. Roo town is a variation of Fear the Roo….I just bought a stinkin sticker that says Fear the Roo on it…so dont tell me they dont sell this stuff anymore..because they do.

Quiet as its kept, I also heard a few players that he is better offensively than most people think – has a nice touch….
