I received word from an upper-level administrator that my previous report is premature, at best.
The university is now looking at an early September timeline for announcing the athletic director. Hunter Yurachek remains in "serious consideration."
I sincerely apologize for the confusion. Since Friday, I worked diligently to confirm or deny the rumor that I heard from a reliable, yet unofficial, source. One hindrance was that the search committee is sworn to confidentiality about the proceedings.
I struggled with whether to post the source's information. In the end, I felt it would better serve the readers to know everything I know, with the caveat that the information comes from an anonymous source.
My anonymous source heard this information second-hand. The administrator suggested that my source was merely speculating. I do, however, think it is appropriate to assume there is some fire behind this smoke.

Sounds like the Administrator is covering their backside.
I can tell you firsthand, myself, that the search committee is being completely tight-lipped; however, it's next-to-impossible for some hint NOT to leak out to someone when there are so many people involved in the process. If there's one thing I've learned in life, it's that people have an innate need to tell secrets. There's no "confidentiality" anymore, be it friend or family. I guess it's just human nature…we must talk, we must tell what we know. It's weird.
So yeah, I tend to think there's smoke here, too, and have no problem with premature e-speculation on a blog.
We all just want the right guy for the job.
Nice judgment call Rasor. Just what I want in a Councilman as well. If Yurachek is the best candidate, then no one must want to work for Akron. He's a good guy–but he is not ready to be our AD.

Mike, could the administration be so tight-lipped about the final list of candidates because they are slightly embarrassed about a lack of quality people throwing their respective hats into the proverbial ring for this gig? I would assume, that if there was a very strong list of final candidates, the U would leak the information.
Also, ignore the Anti-Rasor! Lol. That's hilarious. No, this is a blog! Thus follow typical blog protocol. Rumors are not only acceptable, but appreciated! A blog is for FUN! I don't care if you were wrong, you reported what you heard, I like it. We need someone like that in Akron sports, shows you care. I hope Akron gets the best man for the job! Keep the info coming.
