BTW, Ruth - the other two residence halls are not a dream. They are solid plans and we will see construction of them begining in about a year and a half, if not sooner. UA knows they can fill the one currently being built with no problem and feels just as confident that they will fill the two on the drawing board.

"This was a regional commuter university, but now it's Purdue Jr"

And that is a bad thing how? And UA is still accessable to the community if not more so. Grad student doesn't make sense. Must be one of those negative small potatoe Akronites. Probably hated it when UA closed Buchtel Avenue and Carroll Street and built a magnificent performing arts hall. Bigness scares some people I guess.

The "dorms" aren't being delayed! One is currently under construction scheduled to be ready for Fall 2010. The other two residence halls scheduled to be built at that location are nothing more than a dream at the moment until the current construction is complete and the building is full for Fall 2010. Then the thoughts will turn to the 2nd hall.

That's why I'm a Nittany Lion!!! Although I would have liked some of the bells and whistles whilst @ Akron. At least Mike Waddell got us out of those awful 70s uniforms

Hey Grad Student. I don't know about you, but I would much rather my degree be associated with "Purdue Jr." than "Community College". The more recognizable your school the better value your degree and like it or not building the university gets the school more research money in the long run, and therefore more value for your investment.

If you don't want all the university bells and whistles you can go be "a Phoenix".

What the hell? There are still people who believe that tuition money is funding this? Seriously?

Go back to your cave, troll.

This is an incredible waste of money. It's yet another Proenza monument to himself and further sacrifices the university's mission to be accessible to the residents of the city of Akron and surrounding areas. This was a regional commuter university, but now it's Purdue Jr.

Thanks Louie! My tuition dollars get to fund a gigantic building that will get used less than a dozen times a year.

Dudes, if we get to the place where we need to ADD seating, well....I take that as one of signs of the Apocalypse.
