Men's and women's basketball
Starting next season, only eight of the 12 teams will have the opportunity to play a MAC Tournament game at Quicken Loans Arena.
The MAC's presidents approved that recommendation and other cost-cutting measures at their meeting Monday in Cleveland.
Over the next year, the presidents will discuss a separate site for the women's tournament. Toledo was the former site, and it seems like it would be a great way to ensure adequate attendance because of the city's proximity to two member universities (Toledo and Bowling Green).

The ABJ's Mike Cardew took some interesting photos from the work on InfoCision Stadium.
Miscellaneous
Mack Rhoades is back on the job hunt.
The PD's Elton Alexander reports that Akron's athletic director is believed to be in Houston, interviewing for the same job at the University of Houston. Rhoades is also rumored to be on a short list at Marshall.
I don't blame Rhoades for wanting to advance. The only way to do that in his industry is to keep moving laterally. He certainly has made strides at Akron and gained valuable experiences.
If he goes, I know a great replacement. He goes by the moniker, "Nature Boy." He was a finalist for athletic director at Akron before Luis Proenza hired Rhoades. Give up? OK. It's Mike Waddell, an associate athletic director at Cincinnati.

How are we to believe/expect Mack Rhoades is doing his very best job here at Akron when he, apparently, is constantly on the hunt for his next job? Man, if he wants outta here so bad, just release him. I want people running the Zips program who want to be here, like Keith Dambrot, people who see the potential for something special right here in NE Ohio.
And if Mack is not that guy, then I certainly agree with Rasor….bring Mike Waddell back in here, someone who knows the area, the program, the MAC, and someone who might actually appreciate the opportunity a growing campus like Akron affords him.
rasor has a man crush on waddell. he's not alone in the zips nation. we can do better than waddell. we did before when we hired mack over him and we can do better in the future if it comes to that.
Wadell is an abvious choice and will be a great hire.
all I can say is …
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOooooooooooooooooo
I dont blame Mack if he takes Houston job. He was cantacted by a headhunter- he didnt apply himself. Any one of us would do same thing!!! As for Wadd- I love the guy- he would do great. But he isnt interested. I know this for a fact- tho I cant elaborate. No offense to Hunter Y but lets do an outside search if it comes to that!!
I think the next AD will be Hunter Y as they've added an "executive" to his title. Maybe he's effective in his current position, but most would be hard pressed to know what that is. Go outside for the next AD. I would like to see Mack stay a bit longer but if he wants one of those jobs good for him. We need people who want to be here. Lots of exciting things going on right here in Akron.
Pwnd,
I don't have a man crush. I want Waddell back in town because he owes me a case of beer.
TJK,
I've heard the same thing as you. I don't believe it. You're telling me if Pres. Proenza called, he wouldn't listen? Come on.
AZipsFan,
The addition of "executive" reminds me of Jeff Boals getting the title of "associate head coach." For the employer, it's a tool to keep a person from moving to a better offer. For the employee, it is a resume enhancement. Regarding the possibly vacant Akron AD job, I have nothing against hiring from within, but due diligence requires the usual national search.
