Ronnie Steward will sit out with a leg injury until the MAC season starts, Keith Dambrot said.

That should increase the playing time for the other three main guards, as well as Eric Coblentz. It might even play a role in deciding whether to redshirt Brett McClanahan.

Jan. 10 against Miami is the goal for Steward's return. The redshirt freshman missed last season with a hip flexor.

Steward is a very talented player, he just can't seem to catch a break. I really think he is best choice for point guard on the roster but at least this gives some of the other guys more experience.

The thing I already like about Steward is his assist to turnover ratio. He looks like a guy you can depend on to run the offense. I know it is still very early but while the other guys may be just as talented they seem to be a little more turnover-prone. Maybe the added experience these next few weeks will improve that.
