Gee LeBron, it's nice you put your buddies on the summer league team.
Think they could serve as more than mascots?
Dru Joyce got on the floor for 2 seconds in the Cavaliers' summer league team's 97-94 loss to the Knicks on Monday. Romeo Travis did not play.
Despite the loss, first-round pick J.J. Hickson scored 26 points and grabbed nine rebounds.

A recent Rivals.com story says junior college cornerback Chaz Russell has his eyes on his team's opening game, not on the Zips.
Furthermore, Russell did not mention Akron in the story, but did discuss his interest in several BCS schools.
- New offers…
Mark Willis, defensive end, Oak Park, Ill.
Offers: Akron and Eastern Illinois
Height: 6-foot-4
Weight: 240
Speed: 4.68
Notes: Willis knows Akron has nice facilities and a decent recent history of winning. He is a strong student. He is also looking for good team chemistry.
Perez Ashford, wide receiver, Shaker Heights
Offers: Akron, Iowa, Syracuse, Ball State, Bowling Green, Eastern Michigan and Ohio
Height: 5-10
Weight: 170
Speed: Not listed
Notes: Rivals gives Ashford three stars. He is leaning toward his two BCS offers.

The story is subscription-only, so I just linked to his profile. If you have a subscription, you can find the link pretty easily.

Romeo got little playing time last year as well. What's the point in havng these guys on the roster if your not going to play them.

Mike, does Chaz have a visit scheduled to Akron?
July 16th, 2008 at 10:02 am
Neither Web site says whether he's visiting. However, Rivals' story is more recent and it doesn't give a mention of Akron.

Wow. You're right. That is from 2007, not 2008 like I thought.
Whoops.

What's more, since you can apply previously earned college credits to your degree at Ashford, you won't waste time retaking classes you've already completed.
