No deal yet with Nike

Despite the recent reports, the University of Akron does not have a contract with Nike.
After I made a records request for the contract, a university official told me that the sides are still discussing the matter and do not have an executed agreement.

Just because the ink is not dry does not mean the deal is not verbally agreed to. Akron will get lots of free gear from this which is a step forward. The return on investment for Nike is not a really concern, as this is a favor from Lebron, not a business decision.
