Zeke Marshall commits with Zips

Akron's coaching staff notched the biggest recruit in program history with 7-footer Zeke Marshall choosing the Zips over Virginia Tech, Pittsburgh, Virginia, Xavier, Duquesne and George Mason.

The Scout.com story says that Marshall — the nation's No. 11 center — fell in love with Akron's coaching staff and campus.

Marshall will be the interior defensive presence that Akron lost with the departure of Romeo Travis. Eventually, he could be dominant on offense, as well. Marshall is the kind of talent that can elevate a program into an elite mid-major status.

This is the one the Zips have been looking for.
I now can see the light at the end of the tunnel, the light is the NCCA tourney!

This sure is a long time coming. We haven't had a big man over 6-6 with full package skills in a long time. Maybe ever..

Rich-
Maybe ever?? Surely you have not forgot about Matt Seibert, the Zips' dominating 7 foot center of 2000-2002! Talk about the complete package. He even had Kareen's sky hook perfected!

Seriously, this is a tremendous catch for the Zips. I only wish we didn't have to wait another season before we see him play for us. That is a lot of time for bad things to happen……injuries, arrests, change of commitment……..
