Frye’s job in jeopardy

The Browns traded up to select a free-falling Brady Quinn at No. 22 overall in the NFL Draft.
That has to be bad news for Charlie Frye and the Browns, since they gave up this year’s second round pick and next year’s first rounder.
It’s a lopsided deal, and Phil Savage better pray Quinn is a Pro Bowler or else this trade is a travesty. Think about what the Browns just did…
They traded a high second rounder this year and a high first rounder next year (presumably) for a quarterback whom many don’t even consider the franchise variety. That’s awful.
Of course, it probably means the end of Frye’s starting career with Cleveland.
If you’re wondering how this affects Andy Alleman, I think it makes it even less likely the Browns will go offense again to select an offensive guard.

Oh, bro…gotta disagree with you here. The Browns literally STOLE Brady Quinn in that trade. Don’t think so? Ask the Dolphin fans, who wanted him at #9. Thank heavens for poor Miami decision-making!!
The Raiders nearly took Quinn as the #1 overall pick, dude! So just pretend we took Brady in the first round next year. All we had to give up was a 2nd round pick. So frickin’ what? This guy is an immediate upgrade over the debacle tandem of Frye/Anderson, who ranked (what?)…last in the NFL.
Get on the bandwagon now, Mike. At least Brady can speak without mumbling incoherently (cough, cough, Charlie)…and from all indications, the team was putting on a “front” showing him on-field support. Brady is big-time, Frye was small-time. This move HAD to be made for the franchise…there was NO WAY Browns fandom could endure another season of 3-and-outs with Frye & Co. If I were Savage, I would’ve been willing to give up even MORE in a trade with Dallas, if need be. As it is, it’s a complete one-sided steal for our franchise QB.

I respect your opinion, RC. I see it the other way. I see it as Miami needing a quarterback and not thinking Quinn was capable. To take Ted Ginn of all people over him is quite a statement. Ginn is a luxury as a 2nd receiver or returner. They NEEDED a QB and passed on a guy who could’ve gone No. 1 overall. That’s saying something.
