Zips win WIRC championship

Rifle
One-sixteenth of an inch was the difference in Akron's win at the Western Intercollegiate Rifle Conference championship in Columbus last weekend.
The Zips held off Morehead State and Grand Valley State for the 33-point victory.
Akron represented seven of the 10 all-conference spots.
Newt Engle is an excellent coach and seems to attract players from across the country. He and his team should be commended.
(Whether rifle is a sport is another question altogether.)

pro rassling isn't a sport. it is entertainment. even the companies say that. NASCAR is a sport due to risk of death. Any event you can do while weighing 11 tons and not actually having to do anything the least bit athletic (Rifle, Bowling, TV watching, playing for the Cavs) is not a sport.

I have completely changed my mind due to Kiel's persuasive comment. I mean if "the companies" say pro rassling ain't a sport it must be so. And based on Kiel's criteria, we can add snake handling and unprotected sex to our list of sports.

umm. WWE and TNA both openly admit that pro wrestling is more entertainment then sport. Thus the scripted matches. I know you probably still think it is real, but unfortunately it is not.

I believe when one uses a phrase like "thus the scripted matches" ones sexual orientation is pretty clear. Hey whatever floats your boat Kiel, just be careful.

nice, insinuating that I'm gay. Real powerful stuff coming from some redneck nerd who won't even use his real name. I would have said thus something, but it seems that having a vocabulary that expands past "gettin' squirrely on the home stretch" means you are gay. Rifle isn't a sport. Get over it.

yeah they (rifle shooters) do nothing…they only have the strength and endurance to hold a 17lb rifle completely still for over 4 hrs…are physically fit enough to use thier fitness and brain to lower their blood pressure and heart rate to extremes, control their breathing and muscle contractions to such an extent to hit the head of a pin at 50 ft!! Rifle shooters are some of the most mentally and physically fit ATHLETES out there! Taking steroids, pumping iron and hitting the sh#T out of someone does NOT make you an athlete!
