Gaffney: Crowd won't be a factor

Posted January 31st, 2007 by mrasor

Men's basketball

This game might as well be played on a neutral floor.

Eastern Michigan averages just 791 fans per game, the ABJ's Tom Gaffney writes.

  • The ABJ's George Thomas reports getting national exposure on ESPN2 is a good thing. No kidding.
  • The Zips are 12.5-point favorites. The over-under is 135.5.
  • Danny Sheridan agrees.

Since I'm heading to a casino tonight, I'll be sure to put some cash on the Zips with the points. Nothing Eastern Michigan does worries me without its injured star Carlos Medlock.

Akron rolls.

Prediction: Akron 81, Eastern Michigan 59

How come nobody seems to understand that any game, especially if it is an away game, can turn scary this year in the MAC. Eastern Michigan was within one point midway into the second half before the Zips pulled away.

  2. Kiel Says:

So … how much money did you lose when the Zips didn't cover?

Luckily for me, the sportsbook has been closed since Sept. at the Capri Casino in Port Lucaya, Bahamas.

I only played video poker last night. With free drinks, there's no reason to get hasty right away.

Yes, Kiel. That includes whiskey. Byaaaw.

free whiskey? I don't even know how to deal with that.

I go to small-division high school games with more fans than Eastern Michigan draws. They ought to be ashamed to call themselves a Div. 1-A program. Ah, well, they're just another team of losers from Michigan.
