Updated depth chart

Posted August 28th, 2006 by mrasor

Football

GoZips.com updated coach J.D. Brookhart's depth chart, but it appears eight battles are ongoing.

The most shifting is likely to occur in the secondary where the only certainties are John Mackey at Rover and Andre Jones at one cornerback position. Yes, that includes Reggie Corner, the cornerback who has started 24-straight games who is fighting for a job with Brandon Anderson.

  • Here are GoZips.com's game notes for the opener against Penn State.
  • The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette says Brookhart didn't expect Luke Getsy to be this good. Getsy, meanwhile, talks about how football is now in the air in Akron.
  • Brookhart knows what to expect from Penn State's quarterback Anthony Morelli, the Patriot-News reports. He recruited him at Pitt.

Wow! Even the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette does a better job of covering Akron football than the Akron Beacon Journal. It was terrific seeing NO Zips football coverage in either Sunday's or today's sports sections. Idiots.

  2. Mike Says:

    I'd give them a break.

From what I've heard, the new philosophy is a total focus on Summit County, with the Cavs, Tribe and Browns included.

The question is, does that include Kent State?

  3. LEE Says:

The Akron Beacon Journal is a Front Runner.

Look at the coverage Kent gets and has gotten in the past for basketball and even baseball. If Akron doesn't have a great year in football, the coverage will be in the back of the sports section.
