Rumor mongering backfires

Football
Did you see how the PD's Roger Brown speculated that J.D. Brookhart is on his way to Cincinnati once the Bearcats have an unsuccessful 2006 season?
He's wrong.
Cincy extended coach Mark Dantonio's contract through 2010 last fall. Former AD Bob Goin did it quietly before he left. The Bearcats would waste hundreds of thousands of dollars by severing ties with Dantonio before his contract is up to salvage a football team at a basketball school.
Just so you know, there are considerably less restrictions on a blog. Still, if I'm going to write about a rumor, I'll qualify it by stating my uncertainty of the source.
Consider this a reminder how lucky you are that you have Tom Reed and Terry Pluto, and not Brown.
- Here is an example of that: Some posters on ZipsNation.org are saying the university is increasing the cost of parking several fold. If true, that might hurt tailgating.

How ironic…UA struggles to put fans in the stadium, but does everything it can, cost-wise, to prohibit attendance. The price for a ticket is pretty outrageous for this area, even if we are talking about "so-called" Div. I. Overall, the product on the field has not kept pace with the rising admission price since the program left I-AA, so why should the few thousand loyal fans have to shoulder the financial burden?
Now they're going to raise parking prices?? Do they want us there to tailgate and attend, or just stay home & listen on the radio…or worse, ignore UA altogether? The school has laid out some $200-million constructing all sorts of new (needed??) buildings, yet aside from the indoor practice field, has not sunk much at all into athletics.
Be grateful for the fans you've been able to attract thus far, and begin offering deals that will entice more families to become interested. Raising ticket & parking prices at this juncture is NOT the way to go.

If you can't pay the prices dont go to the game. Akron is trying to build a D1 program here and if you cannot see that then maybe you need to stick to high school games.

Don't tempt me, Pat. At times, it's been more entertaining than the Zips have been, esp. under Owens.
If you're happy UA is building a D-1 program on the backs of loyal fans by sticking them with a $525 PARKING BILL, then you've got two screws loose. Maybe you and I can carpool!

Eric, your a loser…….and probably an alum. All you want is a free ticket! How come most (not all) alums are so damn cheap and won't support their own alma mater, but find no problem supporting someone else's?
It's extremely INEXPENSIVE to go to an Akron game……And if you have kids, it's even cheaper with the Zippy club.
As for parking, walk an extra 50 yards and parking is $25 and you can tailgate as long as you wish.
