Lombardi list lacks Kiki

Maybe I'm being a homer, but I expected Zips defensive nose guard Kiki Gonzalez to be on the Lombardi Trophy watch list. He wasn't.

- Central Michigan defensive end Dan Bazuin
- Toledo linebacker Mike Alston
Upon further inspection, I realized I'm not alone. GoZips.com also expected Kiki to be on the list.
- Also, CollegeFootballNews.com outlines the top 30 quarterback battles this summer. Two are from the MAC - Toledo and Miami. Mike Kokal, a pocket statue, is the leader to take over for Josh Betts in Miami. Clint Cochran looks like he will assume Bruce Gradkowski's role for the Rockets.

Rasor is being a homer in the sense he is whining about the slight as if being on or off the list is, in and of itself, divorced from performance.
Performance always tells the tale.
Gonzalez needs to put himself on the list by his performance in the 2006 season.
He will benefit by being a high draft choice in the NFL draft and the Zip program will benefit in having a better defense with which to defend their 2005 MAC championship.
