Do you care about Homecoming?

Football (kinda)
I pose a question: Do you care about Homecoming?
Here's why I ask. A student came into the Buchtelite office upset that we did not give Homecoming more coverage. She was Homecoming queen, by the way. A couple added points… She was the first-ever African-American Homecoming queen at Akron. We were unaware of that fact until last weekend.
As a journalist, we try to cover what people care about. So did we screw up by not giving Homecoming more ink? And mostly, do you care about Homecoming?

Hi Mike!
Yes. Granted, it may not seem that big of a deal to you, but one thing I learned in working for Tel-Buch and Buchtelite is covering things that may not seem important to you, but mean a lot to others. Seriously, hundreds of people attended the dance- and for the first time ever, we had an african-american queen. (sad that it took this long, though).
And, unlike the high school homecoming king/queen, this school's is selected by leadership, not popularity.
I wish that you had been there…it was seriously the most diverse court I have ever seen at this school, and it would have proved to people that leadership wise our school is very diverse.
But, Que sera, sera.
