Hoover’s Howard racking up records

This past Friday turned out to be a memorable night for North Canton Hoover senior running back Erick Howard.
Against Austintown Fitch, Ohio’s reigning Mr. Football broke the Stark County rushing record.
For his career, Howard has 5,248 yards, passing former Canton McKinley star Morgan Williams who had 5,177 yards from 2004-06.

Hoover’s Warren selected for softball showcase event

Erika Warren of North Canton Hoover High School has recently been selected to compete in the Queen of Diamonds Showcase South (QDSS) in Rock Hill, S.C. The event runs from September 4-6 at Winthrop University.
Warren is a sophomore-to-be at Hoover and plays catcher.

North Canton junior RB Erick Howard – the 2008 Mr. Football award winner – continues to draw significant college interest.
Howard, who is 5-10 and 210 pounds, told Rivals.com he has offers from Akron, Kent State, Colorado, Cincinnati and possibly Michigan State.

It appears as if Eastern Michigan has searched deep into Ohio plucking four area softball players to fill next year’s roster. Hoover’s Sarah Gerber (1B) and McKenna Russ (OF) are both already inked. The North Canton Hoover Vikings boys and girls cross country squads each won team championships Saturday at the 2007 Cloverleaf Colt Pack Invitational.
