Minerva has named Heather Frigyes as its new head girls basketball coach. Frigyes replaces Bruce Wright, who resigned after the 2010-2011 season. Frigyes, a 1990 Minerva graduate, played four years with the Lions and was elected to the high school Athletic Hall of Fame in 2007. She graduated from the University of Akron in 1994 [...]

Minerva’s Kyle Crum adds Kent State offer

Minerva junior tight end/wide receiver Kyle Crum was offered by Kent State on March 27, according to Minerva coach Brett Yeagley. Crum, who is 6-foot-4 and 210 pounds, also has an offer from Louisville. Crum has taken unofficial visits to Kent State, Syracuse, Akron, Toledo, Louisville and Kentucky, according to Yeagley.

Minerva forward Chelsie Butler has orally committed to play for the Marquette women’s basketball program, according to Tom Jenkins of the Ohio Girls’ Basketball Report. Butler, who will be a senior this upcoming season, was Division II second-team all-state last season.
