This past Friday turned out to be a memorable night for North Canton Hoover senior running back Erick Howard.

Against Austintown Fitch, Ohio’s reigning Mr. Football broke the Stark County rushing record.

For his career, Howard has 5,248 yards, passing former Canton McKinley star Morgan Williams who had 5,177 yards from 2004-06.

In Hoover’s 31-20 win, Howard ran for 222 yards and four touchdowns. He’s now holds Hoover’s career scoring record with 436 points. He passed former Ohio State running Jeff Logan who scored 426 points in the 1970s.

With two more touchdowns Howard will become the county’s career leader in scoring.

To top things off for Howard Friday, he was also named Homecoming king.

Howard is listed as a three-star recruit by Rivals.com. He’s been offered a college scholarship to Akron, Cincinnati, Colorado, Illinois, Kent State and Toledo.
