Walsh’s Durant Has The Right Attitude

by admin on September 22, 2009

Walsh Jesuit football coach Gerry Rardin said other players on his team, and other players in the area, for that matter, can learn something from his starting offensive tackle, 6-foot-5, 285-pound senior Zach Durant.

Last year, Durant didn’t play much for Rardin because the Warriors had two major Division I recruits playing up front. So Durant’s time was limited. But he didn’t let that stop him from showing Rardin that he was willing to do whatever it took to get on the field.

“We’re thrilled with Zach’s progress,” Rardin said. “In practice last year, Zach went up against two kids that went to Big Ten schools this year (Northwestern and Indiana) and he would always jump right in there to go up against them. That is a great attitude and it’s prevalent on the team.

“Naturally, they all want to start but they know they need to get better and they are willing to work in practice. That says a lot about Zach and other kids like him.”
