in St. Vincent-St. Mary

St. Vincent-St. Mary is making Friday, Sept. 4, 2009 “John Cistone Day.”

Cistone, a 1950 graduate of St. Vincent High School and former coach for the Irish, led the program to four state championships. Festivities will begin at 6 p.m. with family, friends, former players and students meeting in the student center for a pre-game reception. Students will be wearing T-shirts bearing Cistone’s name and image.

At halftime, a representative from Mayor Don Plusquellic’s office will present a proclamation to Coach Cistone acknowledging his athletic, charitable and personal accomplishments.

Cistone is a member of the University of Akron and Ohio High School Athletic Association’s Hall’s Of Fame and was the Dapper Dan Club Man of the Year 1979 and 1981.
