Hoobler, Miller guide experienced Orrville football

by Michael Beaven on August 25, 2009

in Football, Orrville

Seniors Chase Hoobler and Sam Miller lead a group of 17 seniors that give Orrville an experienced team that is ready to challenge for an Ohio Cardinal Conference title and a deep run in the state playoffs.

Red Riders coach Doug Davault is relying on Hoobler, a tight end/linebacker, and Miller, a flanker/free safety to provide production and leadership.

Davault said twin brothers Victor Monheim and Vincent Monheim are key linemen. Davault is relying on Hoobler, Miller, seniors Dillon Corbett, Thirajn Pittman, Joe Besancon and sophomore Mason Monheim to be the primary playmakers out of an offense that operates out of the spread, two-back and shotgun formations. Besancon is a threat to pass or run at quarterback.

Hoobler, a University of Akron recruit, will guide a 3-5 defense. Miller has college offers and is likely to choose which one to accept after the season.

Check Thursday’s Akron Beacon Journal for a special section in the newspaper that previews the 2009 season, which includes a feature story on Hoobler and Miller.
