Defense should lead Norton football

by Michael Beaven on August 25, 2009

in Football, Norton

Norton returns four starters on offense and eight on defense.

Panthers coach Matt Parrill said senior Steve Smith and Tim Cool will “anchor both the offense and the defense.”

Senior Jerry Baughman is the only returning starter on the offensive line. Parrill said that unit has “decent size and strength, but we lack experience.”

Junior linebacker Nick Misura is also expected to make an impact for the Panthers.

It be nice to do an article on senior steve smith from norton high school in the preview. First team all ptc metro RB as junior. 1300 total yards 16 tds. Easily one of the best athletes in area. at 5′11 205 combined with breakaway speed, and great strength, he is widley respected around the area coaching circle. Also only junior last year to be named first team all ptc metro baseball. Started 10 games as a 10th grader, career football stats include over 2,000th total yards and 20 tds. A national honor society member and model student will serve as a two year captain on football team.
