Hudson senior Brian Winters has made an oral commitment to continue his academic and football careers at Kent State University.
Winters, 6-foot-5 and 321 pounds, was a two-year varsity starter for the Explorers. He was named Hudson’s Offensive MVP after anchoring the Explorers line as a tackle in nine games. He won the team’s “Sledgehammer Hits Award” after making 35 sledgehammer hits (pancake blocks).
“He felt very comfortable at Kent and really wanted to stay close to home so he would be close to his parents and the Hudson football program,” Hudson coach Tom Narducci said. “He really liked the offensive line coach there. Kent showed a lot of interest from very early on.”
The Associated Press tabbed Winters as a second-team All-Ohio and a first-team All-Northeast Ohio Inland district selection in Division I this past fall. He was also a first-team all-Northeast Ohio Conference River Division pick.
Narducci said KSU recruited him to play guard or center in the Mid-American Conference.
