Northwest does some contract restructuring

by Jonas Fortune on December 15, 2008

Tonight’s Northwest Local School District Board of Education Meeting will accept the resignation of women’s basketball coach John Martin and his two assistants Tiffany Cocklin and David Sladky.

No need to fear though, Indian fans. Martin, Cocklin and Sladky will immediately be rehired at the same meeting. Confused yet?

The initial contract, which was agreed upon in a previous board meeting, gave 50 percent of the stipend money to Martin and 25 percent each to Cocklin and Sladky, Martin’s assistants.

With the elimination of one full-time position, Northwest was forced to do a little bit of reorganization. Cocklin and Sladky are now considered “volunteers.” Martin will receive 100 percent of the stipend and will divvy out the money accordingly to his two volunteers.

YES!! The district is SAVED! (Shhh, don’t tell them that they’re not saving a penny. They won’t notice.) “Eliminating a position,” as Seinfeld might mock. What’s next, lowering the thermostats….then plugging in a space heater in each classroom?
