Firestone senior Breanna McCann signed a national letter of intent to continue her academic and swimming careers at West Virginia University.

McCann earned all-American honors in 2008 after finishing tied for second in the 200 individual medley at the Division I state meet in a time of 2:06.12. She won a district title in the 200 IM last season.

McCann qualified for state in 2008 in four events: 200 medley relay, 200 IM, 200 freestyle relay and 100 breast stroke. She placed third at state in 2007 in 2:06.0 in the 200 IM.

“Breanna will add much needed depth to the breaststroke and IM events,’ WVU swimming coach Vic Riggs said. “As an academic scholarship award winner, Breanna has all of the characteristics of what our program is looking for in a Mountaineer swimmer.”
