A pair of Archbishop Hoban standouts — Rachel Tecca and Katie Gross — are headed to the University of Akron to continue their academic and athletic careers.

Tecca, a 6-foot-1 forward, averaged 18.3 points, 10.5 rebounds, 1.6 blocks and 3.4 steals per game last season. She was as an honorable mention All-Ohio selection, first-team all-district and the North Coast League Most Valuable Player.

Gross plays shortstop for the Knights. She had a .370 batting average as a junior in 2008 and had 27 hits, six doubles, one triple, one home run, 16 stolen bases and 28 RBI. As a sophomore, she had 29 hits including five doubles, five triples, three home runs, 12 stolen bases and 21 RBI for a .387 average as a sophomore.

Gross is also a two-time second-team North Coast League selection.
