I choose a player of the game every week from the game I cover, and I post my selection on the blog. Last week, I covered GlenOak at Hoover, so I picked a player from that game. Player of the week is something different, and you'll be happy to know that Dru Jones will be the football player of the week for Week 7. Check out Thursday's Akron Beacon Journal for that coverage. Also, Jones was the Beacon Journal's preseason offensive player of the year (this honor goes to only one player per season), and he was one of our featured players in the football preview for the second year in a row. Bottom line: Jones does get a lot of respect, and he deserves it. I think you’re misinterpreting player of the game.
