Football predictions (part one)

by admin on July 25, 2007

in Football,Massillon,Tallmadge

The football season starts in a month, so it’s everybody’s favorite time for predictions. Ohio High magazine predicted the 2007 state championship matchups and the winners. Two local schools, Massillon Washington and Tallmadge, were picked to advance to the state finals in their respective divisions. Here are Ohio High magazine’s predictions:

Division I finals: St. Xavier over Massillon Washington
Division II: Trotwood-Madison over Tallmadge
Division III: Dayton Chaminade-Julienne over Mentor Lake Catholic
Division IV: Youngstown Cardinal Mooney over Kettering Alter
Division V: Lima Central Catholic over Maria Stein Marion Local
Division VI: Norwalk St. Paul over Lehman Catholic

What do you think? Do you think Massillon Washington and Tallmadge will make it to the finals? Do you think any other area teams have a chance?

Tallmadge? Is that supposed to be some sort of a joke?

Nate Ulrich July 27, 2007 at 11:33 pm

No. I think that prediction is pretty serious. Tallmadge has made the state playoffs for three consecutive years. The Blue Devils made the state semifinals in 2004 and 2005 and lost in the first round last year. Apparently the writers at Ohio High magazine think Tallmadge will have a tough senior class that can make the team a threat in the postseason.

I don’t know why the poster thinks its preposterous that Tallmadge would be considered a contender for the state title. Our 2004/2005 teams both made it to the final four. 2006′s very young Tallmadge team made it to the playoffs and this year’s team is stacked with experienced talent.

Sounds like a team/program primed for a championship round to me.

I agree. Tallmadge should be tough.

I feel Massillon Washington will definitely make it and Tallmadge has a very strong chance. Not a bad prediction at all.

Massillon Washington and Tallmadge
