Barberton coaching vacancy

We received a fax from Barberton High School’s athletic office that said the school is looking for a new head baseball coach for the 2008 season, meaningĀ Magics coach Jon Hance will not be returning next season.

I spoke to Hance and he confirmed that he will step down after eight seasons as head coach to spend more time with his family.

Barberton needs a new baseball coach? There is a clear and simple answer. A fellow from Barberton named Clayton has both a brilliant sports mind and is a native of the area. It’s a natural, slam-dunk choice. Clayton would probably win most of his games unless he gets stuck with an umpire by the name of Dudones.

I asked Hance if he had an idea who might inherit the coaching job. Hance said it’s wide open. I also asked Clayton, and he said he wasn’t interested.

I know what’s going on…Clayton is holding out waiting for the right moment to claim his rightful place as the Magics football coach and restore them to greatness. Good idea, Clayton!
