It has been reported that 2007 Canton McKinley graduate Zack Campbell has joined the University of Akron football team as a preferred walk-on kicker.
Campbell adds depth to the position and might make an immediate impact as the competition for the starting job progresses throughout the Zips preseason camp.
Campbell, 6-foot-1 and 183 pounds, earned second-team All-Ohio and first-team all-district honors in Division I as a Bulldogs senior. He made seven field goals, including a school-record, 48-yard field goal against Boardman and converted 59-of-60 extra points. He also punted 46 times for a 36.4 yard average.
