State track and field

Here are some highlights from the first day of the 2007 State Track and Field Championship meet at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium in Columbus:

BOYS

Division I

Firestone senior Collister Fahie finished second in the long jump with a personal-best distance of 22 feet, 7 3/4 inches.

Perry senior Andrew Klecan cleared 15 feet to take second place in the pole vault.

Medina senior John Pallini took fourth in the shot put with a throw of 58-4 1/4.

Division II

Woodridge finished second in the 3,200-meter relay with a time of 7:51.37. Members of the relay team were seniors Scott Hilditch and Joey McCoy and juniors Brian Himelright and Tony Marette.

GIRLS

Division I 

Canton McKinley senior Tyshaune Toney placed fifth in the discus with a throw of 129 feet.

Walsh Jesuit junior Georgette Asfoura took fourth in the high jump with a jump of 5-6.

Division II

Woodridge finished second in the 3,200 relay with a 9:30.14. Members of the relay team were senior Jordin Cochran, freshman Sarah Dickinson and juniors Danielle Dougherty and Julia Dougherty.

Note: There was a rain delay from about 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Division II field events resumed at about 2:05 p.m.
