State track and field

Here are some highlights from the first day of the 2007 State Track and Field Championship meet at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium in Columbus:

BOYS

Division I

Medina seniors Tom Carpenter and Matt Unsdorfer, junior Sam Maynard and sophomore Donny Roys combined to place second in the 3,200-meter relay with a 7:46.73.

Medina senior John Pallini, a Youngstown State recruit, took fourth in the shot put with a throw of 58-4 1/4.

Division II

Chippewa senior Travis Seeden took fourth in the high jump with a jump of 6-2.

GIRLS

Division I

TWINSBURG WON THE STATE CHAMPIONSHIP IN THE 3,200-METER RELAY WITH A TIME OF 9:10.38. 

Senior Kathleen Clark, juniors Danielle Kirkpatrick and Brittany Buck and freshman Taylor Vidovic combined to win the title.

Division II

ORRVILLE JUNIOR DeVONNE HOWARD WON THE STATE CHAMPIONSHIP IN THE LONG JUMP WITH A JUMP OF 19 FEET, 7 3/4 INCHES.
