Indians quiet thus far at the winter meetings

December 7, 2009

There has barely been a whisper online (unfortunately, I’m not there and just perusing the internet at the office) about the Cleveland Indians at this year’s winter meetings, which started today.  I only write “barely” because of utility infielder Jamey Carroll. Carroll hasn’t ruled out a Cleveland return, but as MLB.com writer Anthony Castrovince notes, [...]

Carroll has plenty of suitors

December 3, 2009

The Cleveland Indians have interest in bringing back utility infielder Jamey Carroll, but it is far from a lock that he will return to the Tribe. The Boston Red Sox,  Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim , Los Angeles Dodgers, Oakland As,  Texas Rangers, Pittsburgh Pirates, Cincinnati Reds and Indians have all had more than passing interest [...]

The Indians have won 12 of their past 18 games and recently have taken two of three from each of the Central Division contenders: Detroit, Chicago and Minnesota. If the Tribe were to continue to play at a .667 pace the rest of the season, it would finish with a plus .500 record of 82-80. [...]

June 16, 2009

CLEVELAND: Manager Eric Wedge doesn’t mind identifying two aspects of the Indians’ game that cause a spike in his blood pressure: walks and strikeouts. Cabrera out two-four weeks

June 3, 2009

MINNEAPOLIS: The Indians’ body count continued to rise Wednesday with the news that Asdrubal Cabrera was placed on the 15-day disabled list.  Rather than being struck down with a dislocated shoulder, as Cabrera thought, the diagnosis, made in Cleveland, is a sprain. “An MRI and an exam by Dr. (Mark) Schickendantz confirmed that it’s an [...]

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn.: Two batters into Tuesday night’s game, the Indians suffered another injury. 6-2-09 Morning RoundUp

June 2, 2009

Those darn Midges couldn’t slow Joba Chamberlain this time. The mass of Seagulls had no affect either. What living creature can we throw at him next? The Yankees didn’t really beat the Indians Monday. They just circled the bases as the Tribe offered free passes 11 times. It is a miracle the Yankees scored just [...]

Trading away the Tribe

May 18, 2009

Plenty of rumors have already swirled this season as the Indians carry the worst record in the American League and the second worst in all of baseball. If the Indians continue their downward slide who might be traded away for top of the line (pitching) prospects? We have already heard the Cliff Lee rumors plenty [...]

Wedge too busy to worry about job

May 11, 2009

CLEVELAND: Once the subject of a manager’s job security is broached publicly, the story tends to take on a life of its own. After the Indians’ loss to the Tigers Sunday, two players were asked whether manager Eric Wedge should be taking heat for the team’s ugly start. Both players, Victor Martinez and Mark DeRosa, [...]

Rafael Betancourt step right up. It’s your turn to cough up a lead! The Indians have been able to score back-to-back wins just once this season and are now fighting to get over that hump. In Saturday’s 9-7 loss to the Tigers the Indians responded to a five-run deficit early before eventually taking the lead [...]

Relievers wanted: Call Tribe

April 17, 2009

The knee bone’s connected to the thigh bone, and the thigh bone’s is connected to the hip bone… Depending on whether all the parts of work together, life will be easier or a struggle. Eric Wedge is painfully aware of this fact, which is a key component of the Indians’ 3-8 record.  The Tribe’s relief [...]

Wedge holds early team meeting

April 15, 2009

Indians officials did not send an advisory to the Guinness Book of World Records, but when manager Eric Wedge addressed his troops after only eight games Tuesday night it might have established an American League mark, at the very least. But there was no use waiting around, inasmuch as the Tribe had only one win. [...]
