Adam Miller remains in the shadows, unable to pitch

March 26, 2010

Not long ago, Adam Miller was the brightest prospect in the Indians’ farm system, a pitcher who could throw a fastball 100 miles per hour, touted as the next staff ace or possibly a star closer. Then he hurt his right middle finger. How bad could a finger injury be? The finger became an issue [...]

Reexamining the Indians 2007 prospects

February 26, 2010

Four years ago Baseball America annointed the Indians farm system the 10th best in baseball. “The Indians formula remains consistent,” they wrote in the 2007 Baseball America Prospect Handbook. “They have outstanding depth, keeping them around the top 10, even while remaking the big league club. The organization’s strengths include left-handed pitching and power relievers.” [...]

Searching for No. 2

April 28, 2009

This is not the first time manager Eric Wedge has searched for an effective hitter to bat second in the Indians’ lineup. In fact, it has been an issue for the past few seasons. April 24, 2009

The conservative approach to Adam Miller’s finger issues hasn’t worked, so the next step probably is surgery. Injuries have created nothing but grief for the promising Indians right-hander for more than a year. For the past two months, he has tried to learn a new grip on the ball to avoid putting pressure on his [...]

It was just another player making his major-league debut. Thousands of men have preceded him. No big deal, right? Unless you’re the guy jogging onto a big-league field for the first time, thinking that every eye is on me, and what if I trip over the baseline or strike out on a pitch over my [...]
