Thome should be resigned, too. Hafner isn’t a year long performer, by any means. And if he is we have two of them…put Thome at first. And then get a couple .300 guys with power. Easier said than done, but it can be accomplished. Thome should be signed for leadership in the clubhouse and a link to fans from the days when the Tribe truly was feared at the plate, and a last hurrah of production as he prepares to retire. We do have the composite of a championship potential; we need front office followup to make it come true.

While the Tribe finished second, their last month performance was abysmal. So was Acta’s management. I do think he did for Tolson, which was nice. The front office needs to pickup a couple of real and true power hitters to go with our banjo squad, and I think the pitching will adjust itself. Carmona is due for a good season in his on again off again yearly performances. But they are so far behind Detroit at the plate it isn’t funny, and Chicago isn’t going to sit still, either. Get busy, boys, and break out the wallet. second is where we would be when you claimed that was how the plan worked to start investing in free agents again. Our batting average was Little League quality.

I think he purposely got tossed to allow Tolman to manage. Acta seems both classy and caring. On Sunday during the final game played in Cleveland he put Thome on third for one pitch before calling him out of the game.

I understand it has been tough for Tolman for this year. What a fine tribute to have him lead the team during the season’s final game!
