Triple-A Columbus (58-37) – Visiting Columbus defeated Durham 8-3…RHP Yohan Pino (8-5, 5.54 ERA) held the Bulls to three runs on five hits (including two home runs) over six innings…LF Nick Weglarz went 3-for-3 with a home run, two RBI and two runs scored…IB Jordan Brown went 1-for-5 with a double and three RBI.
Double-A Akron (50-45) – Host Akron topped Altoona 4-1 to win its fifth consecutive game…RHP Alex White (5-4, 1.50 ERA) limited the division-leading Curve to a run on six hits while striking out seven over seven innings to earn the win…Of Akron’s four runs, three came via lead-off home runs – in the fourth by RF Matt McBride (who also went 3-for-4), in the fifth by SS Asdrubal Cabrera and in the sixth by LF Jerad Head.[ep
High Class-A Kinston (8-14 in second half) – Host Kinston lost 7-3 to Winston-Salem…LHP T.J. House (2-8, 4.35 ERA) dished up seven runs (six earned) on nine hits and three walks over 4 2/3 innings to take the loss…DH Nate Recknagel went 1-for-3 with a home run and three RBI.
Low Class-A Lake County (11-12 in second half) – Visiting Lake County lost 5-1 to Cedar Rapids…LHP Vidal Nunno (4-4, 5.29 ERA) allowed four runs on eight hits over six innings to take the loss…DH Chris Kersten scored the Captains lone run on a ninth-inning home run.
Short-season Mahoning Valley (11-19) – Host Mahoning Valley was shutout 3-0 by Williamsport….LHP Kirk Wetmore (0-4, 7.48 ERA) took the tough-luck loss despite alloing just two runs on six hits over 5 1/3 innings…The only Scrapper player to garner multiple hits was RF Carlos Moncrief.
