Branyan says no-go

by Sheldon Ocker on March 27, 2010 - 3:19 pm

Not long after Russell Branyan took ground balls at first base this morning, he walked to the clubhouse and was asked by two reporters if he would play in games next week.

Branyan said no and walked away. If Branyan doesn’t get 30 or more at-bats against live pitching the final week of training camp, he will not open the season at first base. He has been sidelined the entire spring with a herniated disc.

now we can get both Brantly and Laporta in the lineup.
why take at-bats away from the the future and give them to the past?
