Got a question about the Indians?

by Ron Ledgard on February 3, 2010 - 9:48 am

We are adding a new feature to Tribe Matters.

If you have a question about the Indians, we want to hear it. Sheldon Ocker and Stephanie Storm will answer them.

We plan on this being a weekly feature or possibly more. A lot of that will depend on the amount of questions we get.

So on the right side of this page you will see a place to click to submit the questions.

Keep an eye out for the answers in future blog posts.

My question is, given the Dolans’ financial resources, how do you see them assembling the necessary mix of superstars, veteran stars and young stars to return the Indians to the championship level?

What is the Tribe’s plan for Pronk if he continues to perform at such a mediocre level? He is one of the highest (if not THE highest) paid players on the team and he has gone from a powerhouse to a “black hole” in the middle of the line-up. I know he has some nagging injuries, but the situation is starting to bring down the entire offense.

How much of the Indians problems are a result of the Travis Haffner contract? As in he is way over-paid for not performing and we are not able to free-up monies for other contracts. Or is it just the shear unwillingness to loosen the grip on the owners wallet that has taken us out of contention?

How many ridiculous contracts and millions of Dolan dollars has Mark Shapiro wasted on mediocre players since he replaced John Hart? This is a fair question. What is his success rate when signing free agents or extending contracts? We all know about the Hafner Debacle and the Lawton and Gutierrez Fiascos. How about a breakdown of major moves, with + or – grades? Maybe the owners need to take a very close look at how their finances have been spent this past decade.
