Eight Indians prospects playing in Arizona Fall League

by Jonas Fortune on October 14, 2009

The Arizona Fall League got underway yesterday and a slew of Indians prospects are taking part. Outfielders Nick Weglarz and Matt McBride; shortstop Carlos Rivero and second baseman Josh Rodriguez; and pitchers Zach Putnam, Carlton Smith, Connor Graham and Josh Judy will all be suiting up for Peoria Saguaros.

For those in the Akron area, the names should be pretty familiar, they all played for the Double A Aeros last year.

Weglarz is considered one of the top prospects in the organization, and perhaps the top power prospect the Indians have.  Graham was acquired from the Colorado Rockies in exchange for Rafael Betancourt.

Making up the rest of the Peoria Saguaros roster are prospects from the Atlanta Braves, Cincinnati Reds, Houston Astros and San Diego Padres.

I have been a loyal fan for 43 yrs, i used to record the games so i could watch them when I got home from work every night. it was a thrill to watch them play. lately i dont record them and I don,t watch them. firing the coach won,t solve ur problem, its the teams inability to work as a team ,and cooperation that is the problem, their attitude, their performance. I have 2 vcr tapes of the indians when they were in the pennant race, now that was a great experience to watch, I couldn,t wait to get home so I could watch them. Then all of a sudden they started trading all their good players away. the tribe was never the same after that. they slowly went downhill. back in 1995&1996 they were a taem that played baseball, in every aspect. a pure delite to see. If that team ever resurfices, I will be the first person to be there watching them. I hope they do it soon because i am 67 yrs old ,and don’t know how much time I have left on this earth, but I sure would like to enjoy their games while i’m still here. your used to be loyal fan.
