No surprise here – Connecticut moves to Richmond

by Stephanie Storm on September 23, 2009

As has been rumored for some time now, the Eastern League’s Connecticut Defenders franchise will relocate to Richmond, Va., for next season and play at The Diamond.

The Diamond was the longtime home of the Triple-A Richmond Braves (since 1966), who moved across state to Gwinett.

When the Braves left, the city agreed to make numerous improvements to the aging facility prior to the start of the 2010 season.

The Richmond Braves didn’t move “across state to Gwinett.” They moved across several states to Gwinett, an Atlanta suburb.
