Gomez fills Rondon’s all-star spot

by Jonas Fortune on July 7, 2009 - 2:44 pm

Akron Aeros starting pitcher Jeanmar Gomez is said to have many similarities to former Akron Aeros starting pitcher Hector Rondon.

Who better than to replace him in the Eastern League All-Star game?

With Rondon’s recent promotion to Cleveland’s Triple-A affiliate Columbus, Gomez will fill Rondon’s spot on the all-star roster.

Since joining the Aeros early this season Gomez is  6-2 with a 3.31 ERA in 12 starts, including a nine-inning perfect game on May 21st at Trenton.

The Aeros have five players on the the Southern team roster: first baseman Beau Mills, catcher Carlos Santana, left fielder Nick Weglarz, closer Vinnie Pestano and Gomez.
