The Indians lost the series opener to the Royals last night 4-2 in the newly refurbished Kauffman Stadium.
It was more of the usual suspects for the Tribe. Fausto Carmona struggled through five innings and the Indians could not find any timely hitting, according to Paul Hoynes.
MLB.com’s Robert Falkoff notes that the Indians doubled the Royals hit total and still lost. Anthony Castrovince didn’t make the trip to Kansas City.
It sounds like any easy enough win for the Royals, yet it was anything but says the Kansas City Star.
Royals starter Zack Greinke needed 104 pitches to complete his five scoreless innings and closer Joakim Soaria allowed two inherited runners to score in the ninth, one on a wild pitch.
Clippers update
Jordan Brown had a ninth-inning RBI double as the Clippers beat the Indians (Pirates Triple A) 3-2 in Indianapolis Monday.
Jeremy Sowers pitched five shutout innings through the rain.
The rest…
Aaron Laffey will start Thursday

Clutch hitting. It’s been the Tribe’s achilles heel for as many seasons as I can remember. The ‘95 team seemed to have a knack for comebacks. But as far as putting a guy at the plate to drive in a run (or even put the ball in play, which this team seems unable to do) when absolutely needed….where is Pat Tabler?
