Mujica traded, Chulk re-assigned

by Jonas Fortune on April 1, 2009

The Indians traded right-handed relief pitcher Ed Mujica to the San Diego padres today for a player to be named or cash considerations.

There has been no word whether a bucket of baseballs was included as well.

Vinnie Chulk was assigned to minor league camp.

Also, waiver claim Jae Kuk Ryu is back with the Padres after Major League Baseball voided the Indian’s March 26 waiver claim.

Moo-hee-ca is finally gone? “Ding, dong the gas can’s dead!” Sumthin’ tells me Mr. Ed better look into a new line of work, ‘cuz there’s really not much demand for serving up HR balls on a silver platter. Unless he wants to replace a pitching machine for batting practice.

On a side note, Manny Ramirez’s former agent, Jeff Moorad (you know, the guy who talked Manny into leaving Cleveland for the big payday) just purchased the San Diego Padres. So sticking them with a turkey like Mujica is just suh-weet.
