Growing massive muscles and hitting home runs isn't the only desired result. I'm not saying Omar juiced, but it wouldn't be shocking if he did, and I certainly wouldn't cast suspicion on every long ball hitter who got bigger. Rather, it should be with Khalil Greene, as overrated a shortstop as money can buy. I think Padres fans happy will be happy with this change of personnel, even though Omar will be eight years away from AARP membership. I agree, too, with Omar's worthiness for the Hall of Fame, though I don't know that voters will see it that way. Who knows? John McDonald was a better defensive SS the last two years Omar was in Cleveland. OV will never be a bad defensive player, but the range and arm that delighted us during the glory days of the 90's are long gone. Combined with a rather anemic bat, the Padres would be better off staying with Luis Rodriguez or snapping up...oh I don't know....how about John McDonald! That said, let me make a statement and a prediction....Omar Vizquel should be an easy pick for the HOF. The prediction is that he will get hosed ala' so many other deserving candidates.
