Former Indians pitcher Paul Byrd is taking the Roger Clemens approach to semiretirement: sit out half a season and try to sign with a contender midway through, Ken Rosenthal of Foxsports.com reported.
Rosenthal writes:
He doesn’t want to spend another full season away from his wife, Kym, and sons Grayson, 12, and Colby, 11.
But he also doesn’t want to say farewell to a sport that he has played competitively since 1976.
“The word ‘retire’ when you’re 38 just doesn’t make sense. I hate even using that word,” Byrd says. “But how much longer can it keep being all about me?”

power to byrd if he can get a clemens kind of deal – he got 4.67 mil a win in 2007.
that’s even more expensive than what the yankees paid pavano – he only got 4.44 mil a win.
By midseason, he should have all the steroids his “dentist” gave him out of his system.
i hear jesus was on hgh too. so it’s o.k.
