With idiot GMs dishing out contracts like that, the sport of baseball will soon be lost to the common fan, because ticket prices will have to be jacked up so high. Contracts like that also TURN OFF not only baseball fans, but every sane member of society. The Giants awarding Zito all that dough is right on par with Texas backing up the Brinks truck for A-Rod (which never even got TX to the playoffs), or NY overpaying (an understatement) for C.C.
