Having already clinched the wild card in the Eastern League Southern Division, the Aeros as a team may have little to play for this weekend in Erie as the regular season comes to a close after Monday’s contest.
But one big milestone was still within reach for third baseman Wes Hodges.
With four RBI in the Aeros [...]

August 28, 2008

An Akron win. A Harrisburg loss.
Either scenario was all the Aeros needed to clinch a spot for the fourth consecutive season in the Eastern League playoffs that begin next week.

Miller rehabbing in Akron

August 28, 2008

A familiar face has been spotted in the Aeros clubhouse since the team returned to Canal Park for their final regular-season homestand.
The appearance of a certain former Aeros player gave manager Mike Sarbaugh the perfect occasion to lighten the mood Tuesday with his team coming off a dissapointing 2-6 trip despite trying to nail down [...]

Aeros catcher Wyatt Toregas was activated from the disabled list Tuesday after being sidelined since Aug. 14 with a right elbow strain. Although Toregas said his elbow “felt great”, Aeros manager Mike Sarbaugh eased him back into action by having him serve as the team’s deignated hitter, with back up Damaso [...]

Martinez homers; Aeros swept by lowly New Britain

August 17, 2008

Here’s the good news from Sunday’s Aeros game – Indians catcher Victor Martinez went 2-for-4 with a home run.
And that’s it…Really.
The rest was a debacle.
The game ended in an 8-2 loss to New Britain (the second-worst team in the Eastern League at 54-72) with Aeros closer Randy Newsom giving up a grand slam in a [...]

Martinez enjoys pain-free rehab stint; Aeros just painful to watch

August 15, 2008

As one astute press box observer said late Friday night after the Aeros were shut out 6-0 by visiting New Britain – even Victor Martinez could not save the Aeros.
Not that you expect a guy who hasn’t hit live pitching in two months to show the way, but with as much as the Aeros offense [...]

August 12, 2008

It took Tony Sipp two rough outings before he settled in to his old form, but it appears the left-hander has found his groove.

A touching moment for Lofgren

August 2, 2008

The event I’m about to write about had nothing to do with baseball and came before Saturday’s game even started. But I loved it.
If Aeros fans wanted a glimpse into the kind of person Aeros pitcher Chuck Lofgren is, you should have seen the smile on his face as he led his mother Pam Lofgren [...]
